This anime follows the story of a family that begins to rebuild. When Mr. and Mrs. Kanzaki get married, they add a teenage boy and girl to their lives. However, Mitsuki Kanzaki, a first-year high school student, doesn't seem very enthusiastic. Still bearing the scars of his absent and abusive father, he can't easily accept his new stepmother and stepfather. But after an accident that lands Mitsuki in the hospital, he discovers that a spirit named Hiyori Kotobuki has possessed him, who is in love with his stepbrother, Yuta. Now Mitsuki's life depends on sending Hiyori to heaven. But can he successfully share his body with a cheeky girl? Can he overcome his distrust of his new family? Can he fulfill Hiyori's feelings for Yuta? Or might he hide his own feelings?
